Natural landscapes in Rethymno Crete

Samaria Gorge (about 1.5 hours from Rethymno)

One of the most famous gorges in Crete, the Samaria Gorge offers a spectacular hiking route that cuts through the White Mountains (Lefka Ori). The 16 km-long gorge takes you through lush forests, alongside clear streams, and ends at the Libyan Sea. It’s a bit of a trek, but the views and the natural beauty are well worth it.

Lake Kournas

Lake Kournas is the only freshwater lake in Crete, located about 30 minutes from Rethymno. Margarites Village & Surroundings

The Caves of Melidoni

Psiloritis (Mount Ida)
